|       The play's theme is one of detachment. Three
different relationships - four lonely people - and their incapacity to relate.
Alex, oppressed by his mother, finally makes the decision to become indipendent
in an attempt to find the woman of his life. He first meets Letizia, a fellow
office worker - then Irene, an intellectual seeking emotions - and last Savina,
a simple country girl. The failure of these relationships however only makes
clear Alex's impossibility to break out of his 'igloo' - a classic conflict
between the desire to escape from our emotional ties and the security in
remaining strongly anchored to them.   |
